Omar Abou-Samra is the director of Preparedness and Climate for the American Red Cross and he also leads the Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC), a partnership between the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). Since 2012, Omar has led the development of innovative activities and programs including the Universal App Program, the WhatNow Service and the Business Preparedness Initiative. Omar holds a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a juris doctor’s degree from Santa Clara University School of Law.



Julie Arrighi is the manager of Climate for Red Cross International Services Department and Director of Programs at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre. She is also a lead author on the forthcoming Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Climate Change and Cities and is in the leadership teams of the Global Heat Health Information Network and the World Weather Attribution partnershipJulie holds a master’s degree in Climate and Society from Columbia University.
