Changes That Occur in An Aging Brain From The Bottom Line, Inc. | Can You Collect Social Security and Still Work? From The Bottom Line, Inc. | A Guide to Exploring European Christmas Markets From AARP | How to Access Red Cross Benefits When a Loved One Dies |
The top three risk factors for accelerated brain aging were:
When your bones age, they lose mass and density. When your muscles age, they lose strength and power. When your skin ages, it wrinkles and sags. What happens when your brain ages? A lot. Shrinkage. Starting at around age 40, your brain starts to shrink—particularly in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, areas vital to memory and decision-making. | If you were born between 1955 and 1959, full retirement age is between 66 and 67. Typically, $1 of your benefit is withheld for every $2 earned above a threshold... Different rules apply during the year in which you reach full retirement age... | Plan the perfect festive excursion with these tips European Christmas markets have enchanted visitors for centuries. During the festive season, European cities turn into what feels like a living Christmas card. In Prague, which was my unforgettable introduction to the Christmas markets, Gothic spires towered above rows of wooden booths draped in evergreens and glowing with warm lights. Rich aromas of roasted chestnuts and grilled meats mingled with sweet scents of chocolate and mulled wine, while Santa’s ho-ho-ho drifted through the market and children’s laughter mixed with conversations in a dozen languages. | As with many benefits issues, the death of an American Red Cross retiree should be reported to the Benefits Service Center (BSC) by phone at 877-860-7526. Such a death may be reported by a spouse, family member, friend or legal representative of the deceased. The BSC representative will be able to assist with all benefits including pension, American Red Cross Savings Plan and medical benefits/life insurance as applicable. |
Important Information for American Red Cross Retirees
retiree helpline The RETIREE HELPLINE is a call-back service by ARCAN that assists American Red Cross retirees with questions about pensions, including those administered by the annuity companies, as well as retiree medical benefits, the ARC Savings Plan (401-k) and more. The Retiree Helpline also helps with ARCAN membership questions. The Retiree Helpline is staffed by Red Cross retiree/volunteers, called “Links”, who stay up to date on benefits and steer retirees in the right direction. Many callers will need to contact the American Red Cross Benefit Service Center (BSC) and/or one of the annuity companies to resolve their question or issue and Links will help them prepare for these calls. The Helpline is also a point of Connection for Red Cross retirees who often stay on the call with Links after getting the info they were seeking just because they enjoy talking with another Red Crosser; something Links enjoy as well.
